One of the most interesting aspects of the alpha male is the fact that he is often not aware of it, hardly conscience of his status. He just is. A man who thinks he is the leader or alpha and is always trying to assert himself is not. He is only a wannabe.

Another thing is because he is unaware of part of his nature he sometimes cannot explain why he feels the way he does. An alpha male in decline cannot tolerate the presence of an alpha in ascendancy; the 60 year old who hates the 20 year old, for no reason he can discern.
