So Wrong

Usually the arrival of a package from ThinkGeek is a happy time at the office. Goodies and tech equipment and a cool new catalogue for hours of fun. But the latest catalogue has a highly disturbing item in it. On page 3 is featured a new item entitled "Tell Me Your Secrets Bear" complete with an icon to "see the video" and a seal proclaiming "invented at thinkgeek." The blurb says: "Sweet, cuddly, and a spy for mom & dad. Records your child's secrets and uploads them via WiFi for your review." This is so wrong. So wrong. If your child did not trust enough before to tell you his or her secrets, what will happen when they figure out you duped them with a toy? The level of betrayal here is mind-boggling.
